My 200W has 1GB of memory and couldn't even load the entirety of 2010.10 in its memory, requiring a SD card for the overflow. Your 260W suffers from the same memory constraints in that it only has 2GB of memory and will require a SD card for future map updates. The only complaints are about the 1xxx series, and to this day I do not understand why. It shouldn't have cost Garmin that much more to put more memory on the motherboard. You have a valid point regarding the internal memory being only 2GB. Buy the lifetime map updates for it and you'll be happy. So, I agree, the 255WT is a great little unit. It also has 8gb memory, plenty of room for new maps and JCV files for years to come. So, once again, bit by the upgrade bug, I got a 2460LMT and couldn't be happier with the model. primarily because of insufficient memory for the upgrade maps and complete junction view files. My "late in the model run" 260W (late model 260's are same as a 255W)(But no traffic} is still going strong.īut, bit by the upgrade bug, I bought a 1490LMT.
